Freezing

Freezing is the change from the liquid phase to the solid phase. The freezing point of a liquid is the point at which the substance freezes. The freezing point of a substance is the same as the melting point of a substance. The freezing and melting point for water is 0 degrees Celcius, or 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

Changing from a liquid to a solid is done by taking heat away from a substance. The molecules for a liquid are loosely packed. In a solid the molecules are tightly packed and vibrate. To change from a liquid to a solid, you take heat away from the substance, and that contracts the molecules to form a liquid.
