Melting

The melting phase is changing from a solid to a liquid. The melting point of an object is the point at which the object melts. Different substances have different melting points. The melting point for water is 0 degrees Celcuis, or 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The melting point is the same as the freezing point, so the freezing point for water is also 0 degrees Celcius or 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

Changing from a solid to a liquid is done by adding heat to the substance. The molecules for a solid are packed tightly and vibrate. In a liquid the molecules are loosely packed and are more free to move around. To change from a solid to a liquid, you add heat to the substance, and that expands the molecules to form a liquid.
